Ken took me to dance at night. All kids there. Got invited to a Beach Jive Saturday night by kids from Clinton. Had a row with Morley over picking cherries. Dutch brought Jessie home -she slept with me, and was he tight. Poor Jessie couldn’t get rid of him.  Got a letter from Helen S.

Saturday July 20                                                                                                                                                                    Have received letters from Marg and Marion. Thursday night went to Old Timer but dance closed so sat down on beach with Steve & Edna. Last night Jessie and I were out with Mitch and Charlie Jonstone from Clinton.  Supposed to have beach Jive to-night but haven’t heard anything about it so I guess it’s off. To-night Stewart, Morley, Jessie and I went down to beach with rug and cushions. Lawrence (Jim) came down later with corn flakes, water and peanut butter sandwiches. Got in at 2 o’clock – beach grand.

Sunday July 21                                                                                                                                                             Birthday to-day – 19 – feel very ancient. We went to Grand Bend with the Middlemosts and Mill and got a hot dog. Mother went to Toronto with them to-day. Mrs. Speare is staying with Morley and I.

Tuesday July 23                                                                                                                                                                      Out on pier with Isabelle and Joan – got caught in wheel at night -Morley to rescue.

WednesdayJuly 24                                                                                                                                                                      Went to dance at night. About 11 o’clock Ken took me down to Maxwell’s and we met Mrs. Chapman, Scott, etc. and this morning Mrs. Chapman said that I didn’t go back to the dance afterwards – Mrs. Speare mad but hasn’t said anything to me. Jessie told Mrs. Chapman that I did go back to the dance – row over at Scott’s but I was not in on it. Found out that Ken went and took Issy out after he left me and she didn’t get home till four a.m. –turning circles with Pilot. Went up to log cabin after dance with Ken. Thursday morning everybody mad but had best time at dance that I’ve had this year. Found out that Issy and Ken had it all planned out before leaving the dance. Am I going to give him proper h____.

Sunday July 28                                                                                                                                                                      Have been swimming out on the pier with Lucius and Neil. The latter is crazier that Luc. I made a fine mess of thing with Mrs. Speare and Nana was as mad as anything but have cleared things up now – I hope.

Monday July 29                                                                                                                                                                        Last night Ken came back with beaucoup apologies and excuses. Said that Issy asked him to come up. He spent from 3 till 7 o’clock getting up enough nerve to come down and see me. We went for a drive and he told me that Issy had asked him to take her to the dance next Wednesday night and he said he would. Then when he was I was sore (he) said he wouldn’t. Ran out of gas coming home – dropped me off at my place and went up to break date with Issy. Came back later and we went down to Grand Bend to get his Mother. Mrs. Chapman has come to stay with us now.
