Will We Have an Aud on Monday!

Wednesday April 4th 1934                                                                                                                                                                Yesterday I went into Mrs. Taylor’s & stayed about all afternoon waiting for a phone call (She had left for Peterborough) & Helen came down & we did some German poems.  Aunt Jean came over in the morning and took Nana & Mother off downtown to a show.

Morley hasn’t come home yet – So what to do about Thursday night?  Have Windy & Lloyd or Helen and somebody else?  Wrote to Jim last night and Mother phoned Mrs. Dr. Campbell & Mrs. Campbell thinks she’ll call the meeting off.  She didn’t know a thing about the trouble and this morning Mr. Moon called and wanted to know Dad’s office number. There’ll be a hot time in the old town to-night.  Apparently Mrs. Dr. Campbell had been phoning him.  Aunt Jenny of Lucan died.

Friday April 6                                                                                                                                                                            .     Wednesday afternoon Helen & I went shopping & after supper went to the library Elliott. Mr. Moon & Mother talked it over on the phone & Mr. Moon blamed Mother because Mrs. Campbell (trouble with this darn pen) called the thing off.  He denied saying that about Mum.  Went to my lesson yesterday morning.  I heard the lady there asking her son if he wanted to go down town with her.  His reply “Well if you don’t decide to buy some corsets after we get there. Every other time you have.” Tsk. Tsk.

david-harum-movie-poster-1934-1020196929We went down & saw Will Rogers in “David Harum” Smart picture — Also saw Elizabeth on stage.  I was just going to phone Lloyd the night before when Peggy called & said she couldn’t come out Thursday night as she’s coming out this afternoon.  Trouble all solved. The Abels are going to move. I guess they’re pretty hard up and they’re going by 1st of May. It will seem strange without them here.

I may get a job for July this (year).  Ruth playing the piano up at High Park Church $10 for the month — hours 9-12 afternoons off. Also Saturday & Sunday.

Saturday April 7                                                                                                                                                                     .     Peggy came out yesterday & had supper. Margee & Helen & Ronnie & Marg and I went down to the store after the basketball game & had a soda.  Humberside is now Eastern Canada Sr. Basketball Champions.  Will we have an aud. on Monday!  And how!  To-night phoned Grace and Betty.  Just got an invite to the C.S.C. to be held at Pringles next Friday night.  Of course we can’t go.  Heck.  Guess I’ll write to Jessie.

Sunday April 8                                                                                                                                                                         .     Went to church and went for a walk with Helen.  Aunt Jean & Elizabeth came out for supper.  Wrote Joan.Tuesday April 10                                                                                                                                                                    .    School again and sick already. This afternoon my eyes bothering me.  Have made a new resolution – no cake – no pie – no candy – no rich puddings. I hope it will make my stummach (sic.) better.  Last night went up to the library with Margee – met Nott.  After school Margee & I made out the “Pacific Tennis Club” list of names & sent them in.  Among those present – Robert MacPhee – James Milne – John Hartwell.  Kids party at our place – Mother looked adorable – Nana looked cute too.  Two ice cream cones – with to-day’s result I suppose.
