Oh well, Such is Life

Monday March 19th 1934                                                                                                                                                      Bitterly cold.  Most of the snow gone.  Vain hopes of going to Belleville on Saturday for .50¢ to see the game. Talking to Windy on the phone this afternoon.  Haven’t heard from him  in a long time.  Got 50 in history test.  Pretty good considering and did he have us out!

Wednesday March 21                                                                                                                                                            .      Got a letter from Jim yesterday and such a letter!  Went rushing around town last night looking for something on Durham.  pp7p3Apparently he’s very popular just now because neither of the libraries had him in.  Just my luck.  Nora is going to bring home a book on Saturday and I have to have it in on Monday so I’ll be working.  Last night Jean Ferguson phoned and invited Nora & I to a thing at the city dairy being held for the young people of the island.  .35¢.

Thursday March 22                                                                                                                                                                  Did someone say spring began on the 21st of March?  Brrrr—it’s as cold out to-day as any January day.  I just about froze going and coming from school to-day.  About the only thing I accomplish (sic) to-day was a letter off to Joan.  About time but she never answers my letters till about 2 months later as I should worry.

Sunday March 25                                                                                                                                                                   .     Was sick on Friday and spent a hectic week end writing an essay on Durham for Tannock.  Went for a music lesson yesterday.  Went to church this morning.  Wrote to Eileen.  Called Peggy.  Windy called to-night and I spent half an hour trying to shake him.  Can he talk?

Monday March 26                                                                                                                                                                      Did someone say the spring began on the 21st.  I wish they could take a peek at Toronto to-day.  The kids are out in front having a snow ball fight so figure it out for yourself.  Am I fed up with school I’ll be so glad when the holidays come.  The only thing is – exams after them.  Oh well such is life.  Now if this were the 26th of December instead of March I could appreciate all this snow.

Tuesday March 27                                                                                                                                                                     There was a play in the aud. This afternoon “Summer Hotel.”  The names of the hero and heroine were “Jim” and “Bernice” played by Jack Nott and Peggy McCall.  Bus Haugh in a car accident with his nice new car coming from Montreal.  All slush & slop out to-day.  Disgusting.   Wednesday March 28 A lovely bright day but snow still present.  Thought I’d done just enough home work last night to get out of a detention but got one from “Pills” just my luck.  However I copied out the problem in my spare and took it to him just handed it to him and made a hasty retreat before he had time to ask me if I’d done it myself.  I was (afraid) when I answered “yes” he’d say “then let me see you do it on the board.”
